How to Measure Your Belt Size
Measuring a belt you already own that fits well is the best way to determine your belt size. Lay the belt on a clean, flat surface. Start the tape where the tongue meets the buckle and measure to the most used hole. Belts are measured in inches and you should round to the nearest half inch.
an example can be seen below:
Note: This measurement technique works regardless of the size of buckle measured or the size of buckle I supply. If you intend to supply your own buckle, I will require a picture showing the buckle placed next to a tape measurer.
How to measure your body for belt size
To measure your body for optimal belt size, start by threading a cloth tape measure through the belt loops of your trousers. It’s important to stand in a relaxed, natural position—do not push out your belly or suck it in—when taking the measurement. The measuring tape should be snug. Measure in inches and round to the nearest half inch.
General Belt Information
Over time, leather belts tend to stretch. It’s good to keep in mind that a belt that fits snug initially will likely wear more comfortably down the road.
In this picture you can see the correct point from which to start measuring.
Note: this is why you should not measure from the fold, as there is a 2-3/4 inch difference in length between these two styles of buckle.
